The KLINGON IMPERIAL EMBASSY in Italy is part of the Star Trek Italian Club (S.T.I.C.).
The Embassy is formed in the 1992 thanks to the work of five members; Antonio Falcolini, Livio Cotrozzi, Luisa Iori, Alessandra Volpe and Daniele Marzocca. Focusing their Star Trek passion on Klingon thematic and characters, they intended with their initiative to represent in the official club newsletter, "Inside Star Trek" (IST), a different point of view from the ones presented up to that moment, the Klingon one.
Once entered in the Klingon character that they had chosen, the first five Klingon created the first officially accredited "race" group in the S.T.I.C.. Long before anyone in Italy, they began to speak to the "Federation", to all the readers of the IST, presenting themselves as new and different interlocutor.
In 1992 STIC had grown to more than 3000 members, and most important point, the national TV broadcast of ST:TNG was still much to come. For this reason, all the wonderful episodes centered on the Klingons were exclusively seen by a few enthusiastic fans who had devoted themselves to searching for the original English editions.
The beginning was not easy, in that period, there were not few S.T.I.C. members that looked at the newborn Embassy with suspicion. The thing that struck most was that through the articles of the Embassy, were the Klingons, the "bad guys" for excellence, to speak, but they were "the bad guys that didn't think of themselves as such".
The Embassy wasn't formed as an autonomous Club but as a group inside the S.T.I.C.. Our "statutory" purposes are the diffusion of the Klingon culture, history, customs and philosophy. All our activities are oriented in this direction. In the beginning, one of the first actions of the Italian Klingons was to produce a series of articles that, in a coherent and articulate way, set the Klingon point of view and started a debate inside the S.T.I.C. on the Klingon culture and in the same time provided anticipation and details on the TNG episodes already available in the United States and not yet shown in Italy.
In the following period the Embassy has carried on different projects like a fully Klingon newsletter and a Klingon role playing by correspondence everything, of course, in Italian.
In 1996, the composition of the Embassy's High Command was modified, passing from the remaining three original members (Antonio Falcolini, Livio Cotrozzi, Luisa Iori), with the addition of Livia Monteleone previously, to six (Chiara Guarascio e Andrea Sanavia)
Currently, the members of the S.T.I.C. that collaborate in different ways with the Embassy are several dozens and, finally, the initiatives of the Italian Klingons start to extend also toward different purposes from the publication of periodic articles on the IST, also if this still remains one of our main activities.
